World New Energy Vehicle Congress (WNEVC) Energizes Global E-Mobility

The World New Energy Vehicle Congress (WNEVC) commenced in Haikou, Hainan province, with a primary focus on low-carbon development and the evolving ecosystem of the automotive industry. The congress, organized by the China Society of Automotive Engineers, aims to share successful experiences in New Energy Vehicle (NEV) development and foster collaboration for the global electrification transformation of the automotive sector.

International Participation and Collaboration

The 2023 congress witnessed increased international participation, with representatives from 23 countries in attendance.

A new forum on international investment and trade in the auto sector has been introduced, featuring discussions with representatives from eight countries.

NEV Development Surpasses Expectations

Over the past five years, NEV development has exceeded expectations, with China experiencing significant growth.

In 2019, China’s NEV sales barely surpassed 1 million units, accounting for 5% of total vehicle sales. In 2023, domestic NEV sales reached 7 million units, with a market penetration rate exceeding 30%.

Positive Impact on Industry Development

The WNEVC has played a positive role in the development of the NEV industry, addressing concerns related to policies, technological innovation, collaboration, industrial chain security, and open cooperation.

The congress aims to contribute to global NEV penetration reaching 50% by 2035, setting annual consensus goals for industry development.

Promoting NEV Development in Hainan Province

The congress serves as a platform to promote NEV development in Hainan province, where approximately 50% of new cars sold are NEVs.

Hainan aims to become China’s first province to cease the sale of gasoline-powered vehicles by 2030.

In conclusion, the WNEVC serves as a significant platform for international collaboration and knowledge sharing in the rapidly advancing field of New Energy Vehicles, contributing to the global transition toward sustainable and low-carbon mobility solutions.
