Uttar Pradesh to Host Longest Solar Park on Bundelkhand Expressway
Uttar Pradesh is set to develop its longest solar park along the Bundelkhand Expressway, covering 1,700 hectares. This project will follow the ‘Build, Own, and Operate’ (BOO) model, managed by the Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA).
Major Solar Energy Development
The allocated land for the solar park stretches along the 296 km Bundelkhand Expressway, from Etawah to Chitrakoot. The average width of this land ranges from 15 to 20 meters. The project, expected to cost over ₹2,500 crore, aims to produce 450 MW of solar energy, sufficient for around 100,000 consumers. UPEIDA also plans to lease the land to companies on a 25-year basis.
Industrial and Environmental Initiatives
Efforts are underway to establish an industrial corridor along the Bundelkhand Expressway, spanning from Etawah to Chitrakoot, particularly in Banda and Jalaun. This corridor aims to boost local industry and economic growth.
In addition to industrial development, around 25,000 saplings, including peepal, pakad, banyan, gular, and neem trees, will be planted along the expressway. This initiative promotes environmental sustainability and enhances the region’s greenery.
Future Developments
The Bundelkhand Industrial Development Authority plans to develop a new city akin to Noida, covering around 36,000 acres by 2028. This ambitious project aims to foster economic growth and create a sustainable urban environment in the region.
The development of the solar park and industrial corridor on the Bundelkhand Expressway signifies a major advancement in Uttar Pradesh’s solar energy market. These initiatives align with broader green energy policies and trends in the energy market. The investment in solar technology and infrastructure reflects a commitment to sustainable energy solutions and long-term economic growth.
