The Telangana Solar Energy Association (TSEA) has called on the State government to adopt large-scale solar power generation. This move aims to provide cheaper electricity, particularly benefiting the Gruha Jyothi scheme, which offers 200 units of free power to residents. TSEA argues that solar energy can offset the financial burden of subsidizing electricity under the Gruha Jyoti initiative.
TSEA’s Proposals for Solar Energy Implementation
A TSEA delegation, led by President B. Ashok Kumar Goud, met with Energy Secretary Ronald Ross to present their recommendations. They highlighted methods to generate and promote solar power across the State. The delegation suggested converting unused government land into solar parks to increase green energy production. This strategy would reduce reliance on conventional power sources and generate sustainable revenue for Telangana.
Potential Benefits of Solar Energy Adoption
TSEA emphasized that installing solar panels on ponds, schools, and vacant government lands could empower local communities. This initiative would provide electricity for schools, irrigation pumps, and community centers. Additionally, it would reduce dependence on the main grid, create local jobs, and foster community development.
The association also advocated for the active promotion of the PM Kusum scheme. By raising awareness, offering financial incentives, and streamlining approval processes, the State could encourage citizen participation and reduce overall electricity consumption.
Long-term Sustainability and Renewable Energy
“Telangana can continue to provide free electricity while ensuring long-term sustainability and contributing to a brighter future for our state,” said Ashok Kumar Goud. He expressed the association’s willingness to discuss these proposals further and contribute to the success of the Gruha Jyothi scheme and Telangana’s renewable energy journey.
By adopting these recommendations, Telangana could enhance its renewable energy portfolio and achieve significant advancements in solar energy technology, aligning with broader energy market trends and green energy policies.
