Sun Stellar Partners with DRDO-DIHAR for Ladakh Solar Space Heating Innovation

Sun Stellar and DRDO Collaborate to Revolutionize Solar Space Heating in Ladakh

Solar technology expert Sun Stellar has announced a groundbreaking collaboration with DRDO – DIHAR Leh – Lab to develop an eco-friendly solar space heating system. The project, driven by patented technology, aims to provide sustainable heating solutions in high-altitude areas.

Significant Investment and Rapid Payback

The Solar Space Heating Project involves an initial investment of approximately Rs 90 Lakh, with an impressive payback period of less than three years. Covering an expansive area of 3000 sqft, the system boasts a lifespan exceeding 20 years with minimal maintenance requirements.

Successful Pilot and Upgraded System

The pilot project, installed in December 2023, paved the way for a larger, upgraded system implemented in the ADM Block in December 2024. This advanced system has efficiently provided space heating for two rooms accommodating 8-9 soldiers, maintaining a comfortable ambient temperature of +20 degrees Celsius from 6:00 PM till 6:00 AM.

Serving the Indian Army and Promoting Sustainability

The primary objective of this initiative is to cater to the needs of the Indian Army, offering an alternative to conventional diesel boiler heating and reducing reliance on fossil fuels. The project aligns with Sun Stellar’s commitment to fostering a carbon-neutral ecosystem in high-altitude regions.

Expanding Reach Across India

Sun Stellar is actively collaborating with DRDO – DIHAR to implement solar energy-based space and water heating systems in various high-altitude regions across India. The targeted areas include Himachal Pradesh, Kashmir Valley, Arunachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand.

Karan Taluja, Founder and Managing Director at Sun Stellar India, expressed gratitude to DRDO – DIHAR for their trust and highlighted the dedication of their teams in executing the project successfully under challenging conditions. The collaboration marks a significant stride toward a Carbon Neutral Ladakh.
