Standard Solar’s Strategic Expansion into Texas Renewable Energy Market
Standard Solar, a leader in commercial and community solar assets, has entered the Texas market with the acquisition of a 9.9-megawatt behind-the-meter solar project. The project, named Bluebonnet, is set to sustainably power part of an industrial process load for Messer Americas, showcasing Standard Solar’s commitment to green energy solutions.
Collaborative Project Development and Sustainable Impact
EDF Renewables North America, the project’s developer, will continue its role as the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) contractor during construction. Standard Solar will take on the long-term ownership and operation of the Bluebonnet project, which is expected to be completed in Q2-2024.
“This project marks a significant milestone for Standard Solar’s expansion into the Texas renewable energy market,” said Eric Partyka, Director of Business Development at Standard Solar. The Bluebonnet project features bifacial modules on single-axis trackers and aims to yield approximately 25,000 megawatt-hours (MWh) of clean, renewable energy annually.
Green Energy Leadership and Strategic Partnerships
Standard Solar’s move into Texas represents its dedication to sustainable energy and signifies the fourth collaboration with EDF Renewables in the past 2-3 years. The Bluebonnet project, developed on a greenfield site in McGregor, Texas, aligns with Standard Solar’s overarching mission to accelerate the transition to a more sustainable energy future.
“This exciting project reinforces our position as a dominant player in the industry, now operating in 23 states,” added Mike Streams, Chief Development Officer at Standard Solar. The company, a portfolio of Brookfield, owns and operates over 300 megawatts of solar assets across the United States, contributing to a cleaner and greener energy landscape.
