SLB Partners with Aker BP to Develop AI-Driven Technologies and Move to the Cloud

Energy services giant SLB has announced a strategic partnership with Aker BP to develop an artificial intelligence-driven platform for the Norwegian operator’s exploration and production (E&P) operations. This collaboration aims to enhance efficiency and innovation through advanced digital technologies.

Leveraging the Cloud for Enhanced Efficiency

Utilizing its Delfi platform, SLB will migrate Aker BP’s current workflow application portfolio to the cloud. This transition will enable Aker BP to harness AI capabilities to accelerate innovation and achieve significant efficiency improvements. “By co-developing AI-powered digital technologies, we will transform Aker BP’s subsurface workflows, accelerating planning cycles, increasing production, and reducing costs across their entire E&P life cycle,” stated Rakesh Jaggi, SLB’s president of digital and integration.

Long-Term Commitment to Sustainable Energy Production

The partnership underscores a long-term commitment to continuous improvement in Aker BP’s subsurface operations. “We have made a long-term commitment with Aker BP to continuously improve the subsurface part of their platform, driving constant efficiency optimization and more sustainable energy production,” added Jaggi.

Aker BP is poised to benefit significantly from this collaboration, positioning itself as a leader in digital transformation within the E&P sector. “Leveraging the cloud for data-driven subsurface workflows will increase efficiency and value creation while helping to lower the environmental impact from our fields and discoveries,” noted Per Oyvind Seljebotn, Aker BP’s senior vice president.

Driving Innovation in the Energy Sector

This initiative reflects broader energy market trends towards digital transformation and sustainable practices. By integrating AI and cloud technologies, Aker BP aims to optimize its operations and enhance its competitive edge in the energy market. The partnership with SLB is expected to drive substantial improvements in planning cycles, production levels, and cost efficiencies, setting a new standard for innovation in the industry.

While the financial terms of the partnership have not been disclosed, the collaboration between SLB and Aker BP represents a significant step towards the future of AI-driven energy production and digital innovation.
