With the rising demand for advanced data processing solutions in the AI era, SK hynix has developed the PEB110 E1.S, a high-performance SSD designed for data centers. The new product leverages fifth-generation PCIe (PCIe Gen5) technology, offering improved data processing speeds and power efficiency, ideal for meeting the needs of AI-driven infrastructures.
PCIe Gen5 Boosts Speed and Efficiency
The PEB110 SSD delivers twice the bandwidth of its predecessor, PCIe Gen4, enabling data transfer rates of up to 32 gigatransfers per second (GT/s). This results in a performance increase of 100% over the previous generation, while simultaneously improving power efficiency by more than 30%. These advancements make the PEB110 a powerful solution for data centers looking to optimize their operations.
Advanced Security with SPDM Technology
In response to the increasing frequency of cyberattacks on data centers, SK hynix has implemented Security Protocol and Data Model (SPDM) technology in the PEB110 for the first time. SPDM enhances server authentication and monitoring, providing a robust security solution for safeguarding sensitive data.
Multiple Capacities and Compatibility with OCP 2.5
The PEB110 will be available in three storage capacities—2 TB, 4 TB, and 8 TB—ensuring flexibility for diverse customer needs. It also supports OCP 2.5 specifications, allowing for greater compatibility across global data centers.
SK hynix is currently in the process of qualifying the PEB110 with a global data center client and plans to begin mass production in the second quarter of 2025. According to Ahn Hyun, Head of the N-S Committee at SK hynix, the new product is poised to “solidify our position as the No. 1 global AI memory provider.”
