SJVN Inks Deal to Supply 300 MW Solar Power to J&K from Rajasthan Unit

Green Energy Milestone in Collaboration with J&K Power Corporation

SJVN Limited, in a significant move toward sustainable energy, has finalized a power usage agreement with Jammu & Kashmir Power Corporation Limited. The agreement entails the supply of 300 MW of solar power from SJVN’s 1,000 MW Bikaner Solar Power Project in Rajasthan.

Project Development Details

Geeta Kapur, Chairperson & Managing Director of SJVN, highlighted that the Bikaner Solar Power Project is progressing under the IREDA scheme, with an estimated investment of Rs 5,491 crore. The project, developed under the domestic content requirement mode, is scheduled for commissioning by July 2024.

Utilization of Solar Power

The power generated from the Bikaner Solar Power Project will cater to government entities, either through direct consumption or distribution by discoms. This initiative aligns with SJVN’s commitment to advancing green energy and contributes to the broader national objective of deriving 50% of energy from non-fossil-fuel-based resources by 2030.

SJVN’s Ambitious Targets

As a prominent player in the Central public sector utility, SJVN aims to establish a capacity of 25,000 MW by 2030 and an ambitious 50,000 MW by 2040. This vision is in harmony with the Government of India’s strategic goal to achieve 50% non-fossil-fuel-based energy generation by the end of the decade.
