Singareni Collieries Company Limited (SCCL) aims to complete the 76 MW solar plant installation by the month-end, pushing toward its 300 MW target.
Swift Progress Despite Challenges
Despite disruptions caused by assembly polls and upcoming workers’ union elections, SCCL’s Chief (E&M) Power Projects, NVK Viswanadha Raju, ensures the on-schedule completion of the remaining 76 MW solar plants. The initial phase included 224 MW, with 5 MW dedicated to floating solar plants.
Project Breakdown and Expansion Plans
The ongoing 76 MW projects consist of a 22 MW plant in Ramagundam-3, a 22.5 MW plant, and a 10.5 MW solar plant in Kothagudem, an 11 MW plant in Chennur, and a 22 MW plant on open cast-1. SCCL envisions completing the second phase, adding 232 MW by December, culminating in a total solar power generation capacity of 532 MW.
Tenders Invited for Ambitious Expansion
To achieve this, tenders have been invited for the development of 232 MW across eight locations in Singareni mining areas, with an estimated construction cost of Rs. 1348 crore. Proposals include a 67.5 MW plant in Mandamarri, 37 MW on a 166-acre overburden dump in Ramagundam, and a 27.5 MW plant in Srirampur, among others.
Forward Momentum for Sustainable Energy
The company aims to finalize tenders for the proposed 232 MW solar plants shortly, with completion anticipated by the end of next year. This ambitious push aligns with Singareni’s commitment to a sustainable and expansive solar power footprint.
