Singapore Extends Climate Voucher Scheme, More Time for Households to Embrace Energy Efficiency

Climate Voucher Programme Extension: March 2024 Deadline Offers Additional Time for Households

Singapore’s Climate Friendly Households Programme (CFHP), providing $225 Climate Vouchers, has seen over 136,000 households benefiting from incentives promoting energy and water-efficient appliances. Minister for Sustainability and the Environment Grace Fu announced a three-month extension until March 20, 2024.

Incentives to Drive Sustainability: Climate Vouchers for Energy-Efficient Appliances

The CFHP, initiated in November 2020, encourages energy and water conservation in one- to three-room Housing Board flats. The extended deadline allows eligible households to utilize e-vouchers, comprising a $150 voucher for energy-saving refrigerators, $25 for LED lights, and $50 for water-saving shower fittings.

Promoting Greener Lifestyles: Minister Fu Highlights Programme Impact

Minister Grace Fu emphasized the program’s success in inspiring Singaporeans toward a more sustainable lifestyle. The extended deadline ensures eligible households have ample time to make use of their Climate Vouchers. Redemption is facilitated through the programme’s website.

Under the National Environment Agency’s (NEA) Minimum Energy Performance Standards, appliances with at least three ticks are eligible for voucher redemption. These standards, displayed on appliance labels, signify energy efficiency, offering consumers the choice of environmentally friendly options.

The extension provides a valuable opportunity for households to invest in energy-saving appliances, especially considering the rise in electricity tariffs. The extended deadline aims to further drive adoption and contribute to Singapore’s ongoing commitment to environmental sustainability.
