Asharami Energy Senegal, a subsidiary of Sahara Group, has successfully implemented a solar energy solution at the Daaray Serigne Saliou Mbacke orphanage in Kounoune, Senegal. The initiative aims to make the orphanage more sustainable, saving it up to 500,000 CFA in monthly electricity bills.

Strategic Collaboration with Sahara Foundation

In collaboration with the Sahara Foundation, the project underscores Sahara Group’s commitment to fostering clean and sustainable energy solutions in various regions, including Africa, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East.

Solar Panel Installation for Seamless Operations

The solar solution involves the installation of 24 solar panels and 24 solar-powered batteries, providing energy to all electrical appliances in the orphanage. This includes air conditioners, refrigerators, washing machines, and more.

According to Nana Yaw Asare Adu, Country Manager of Asharami Energy, the project ensures uninterrupted learning, fun, and laughter for the children while significantly reducing monthly electricity costs.

Awa Diouf, Business Development Officer at Asharami Energy Senegal, emphasizes the company’s commitment to transforming lives in Senegal. The collaboration with the Sahara Foundation and other stakeholders aims to enhance social impact and promote sustainable development in the country.

Gratitude from Daaray Serigne Saliou Mbacke Orphanage

Ndeye Awa Sadio, the founder of the orphanage, expressed gratitude, stating that the solar solution would ease the financial burden of electricity bills. The initiative allows the orphanage to allocate funds to other crucial operational needs, fostering a brighter future for the children.

Sadio thanked Asharami Energy Senegal and the Sahara Foundation for their remarkable project, highlighting the positive impact on the orphanage’s capacity to shape the lives of the children they serve.
