Boosting Renewable Energy Infrastructure
In January, Romania issued Technical Connection Approvals (ATR) for new renewable energy projects, paving the way for a total installed capacity of 1.1GW, predominantly from photovoltaic (PV) and wind sources.
Project Breakdown
Out of the allocated capacity, nearly 917MW is dedicated to PV parks, emphasizing the country’s commitment to solar energy, while 165MW is earmarked for the development of wind farms, contributing to the diversified renewable energy landscape, as reported by Profit.ro.
Notable PV Project
The largest among the approved projects is a substantial 301MW photovoltaic park situated in the communes of Predești and Brabova in Dolj county. The developer, led by Italian entrepreneur Simone Beraudo, with interests in real estate and radiant heating systems distribution, collaborates significantly with the Italian company G&G SRL.
Wind Farm Endeavor
In Buzău county, approval was granted for a noteworthy wind farm project with a 165MW installed capacity. The project site spans the communes of Stâlpu, Ulmeni, and Movila Banului, showcasing Romania’s commitment to wind energy. The parent company is undergoing acquisition by a joint venture involving German developer Volkswind GmbH and a local company led by Cristina and Paul Singleton.
These developments underline Romania’s dedication to expanding its renewable energy portfolio, aligning with global trends and green energy policies.
