RAAHI Project: Imminent Launch of EV Charging Stations Addresses E-Auto Drivers’ Demand

The persistent demand from electric auto (e-auto) drivers for accessible EV charging stations is set to be met with swift action. Municipal Corporation (MC) officials have announced that the installation of EV charging stations is nearing completion under the RAAHI project, with these stations scheduled to be operational by the coming week.

Collaboration with Adani Total Energies for 19 Charging Stations

Municipal Corporation Commissioner Harpreet Singh revealed that a work order has been issued to Adani Total Energies for the installation of 19 EV charging stations at strategic locations across the city. The MC has leased its land to the company, and Adani Total Energies will operate the EV charging stations on a revenue-sharing basis.

Benefits Beyond E-Auto Drivers

The initiative is expected to benefit not only e-auto drivers but also four-wheeler and two-wheeler riders. As part of the government’s commitment to promoting electric vehicles and creating environmentally sustainable cities, the infrastructure for EV charging stations aligns with the broader goal of reducing pollution.

Urgent Appeal for Diesel Auto Replacement under RAAHI Project

MC Commissioner Harpreet Singh emphasized the urgency for old diesel auto drivers to replace their vehicles under the RAAHI project. A substantial cash subsidy of Rs 1.40 lakh is available for such replacements, but the window for this subsidy is limited, concluding on March 31. Following this deadline, no subsidies will be provided for the exchange of diesel autos with e-autos.

Singh highlighted that the RAAHI project represents a unique opportunity, offering a government-backed cash subsidy exclusively for the replacement of diesel autos, emphasizing the need for timely action before the subsidy window closes.
