Strategic Investment for Clean Energy Expansion

PPC Group, the major electricity producer in Southeast Europe, has set its sights on substantial clean energy expansion in Romania. The company, having acquired Enel’s operations in the country, aims to commission green energy production plants with a total capacity of approximately 1.3 GW by 2026.

Aggressive Investment Plan for 2024-2026

Presenting its Strategic Plan for 2024-2026 in London, PPC Group outlined a robust investment strategy totaling EUR 9 billion. This plan reflects a significant increase of 130% compared to the previous period (2021-2023). The focus is primarily on renewable energy sources, network modernization, and new activities.

Romania as a Key Player

Romania holds a pivotal role in PPC’s development plans, with the company foreseeing investments in new green energy production plants to meet the growing electricity demand. The group anticipates that Romania’s electricity demand will surge by 10% by 2030, necessitating additional investments in clean energy sources.

Envisaged Growth and Market Share

PPC Group envisions a substantial increase in installed power in Romania’s electric power plants, expecting a 48% rise by 2030. The new green energy capacities are projected to reach 6.4 GW, significantly contributing to fulfilling the escalating demand for electricity.

CEO’s Vision for Green Transition

Georgios Stassis, President and CEO of PPC Group, emphasized the strategic positioning of the company in the green transition. The EUR 9 billion investments during 2024-2026 align with PPC’s commitment to creating value, not only for the group but also for customers, shareholders, employees, and the environment across all operating countries.

PPC Group’s acquisition of Enel’s operations in Romania positions it as a major player in the region, with plans to serve nearly 9 million customers and achieve a total installed capacity of approximately 4.4 GW for renewable energy production.
