The Kubuqi desert, China’s seventh-largest desert, is home to the Kubuqi Photovoltaic Desertification Control Project, a symbol of sustainable development and green construction. Spearheaded by the PowerChina Hubei Group, this innovative project integrates industrial and environmental goals.
Energy Generation and Environmental Benefits
Since its completion, the project is capable of connecting to the grid and generating approximately 4.1 billion kilowatt-hours of electricity. Additionally, it plays a crucial role in reducing carbon dioxide emissions, contributing to an ecological security barrier in Northern China and promoting environmental protection.
Overcoming Challenges for Ecosystem Management
The project, which began construction in 2021, faced numerous challenges. However, the dedication of its workers has led to successful progress, significantly contributing to desert ecosystem management and pushing forward China’s green energy initiatives.
