Transformative Partnership
Heliogen, a leading provider of AI-enabled concentrating solar energy technology, has joined forces with Omanor, a real estate developer specializing in logistics and energy infrastructure. The collaboration aims to advance solar energy projects in the Mexican states of Baja California Norte and Sonora.
Phases of Development
The joint development agreement involves four phases, with the initial phase focusing on evaluating a designated piece of land in Sonora for the solar power plant. Post this, detailed cost analyses and feasibility studies will be conducted to determine sizing and generation capacity. Omanor will contribute to site due diligence and facilitate the identification of initial commercial energy customers.
Leveraging Unique Geographical Advantages
Daniel Suarez, CEO of Omanor, highlighted the collaboration’s significance in harnessing Mexico’s unique geographical advantages for renewable energy. The partnership aligns with Mexico’s accelerating federal policies promoting renewable energy. Heliogen’s breakthrough concentrating solar technology, combined with these policies, is poised to turn solar-rich landscapes into sustainable energy hubs.
Unlocking Mexico’s Solar Potential
Through the collaboration, Heliogen gains access to Omanor’s regional expertise, opening avenues for large-scale projects in Mexico. The region’s abundant solar resources, coupled with direct access to the Pacific Ocean, position it favorably for various industrial processes such as desalination and hydrogen production.
Decarbonizing Industry and Stimulating Local Economies
Christie Obiaya, CEO of Heliogen, emphasized that the partnership facilitates the deployment of clean energy solutions in Mexico. The innovative technology offered by Heliogen, coupled with Omanor’s regional knowledge, is expected to play a vital role in decarbonizing industry operations while contributing to local economic growth.
