In March, Nissan and Honda announced discussions on producing EV components together. They aim to develop a joint operating system to control vehicles, which could significantly lower production costs. The potential partnership could span six areas, with both companies open to collaborations in Japan and overseas. Nissan CEO Makoto Uchida emphasized the openness to regional cooperation.

Nissan, which introduced the Leaf in 2010, sold over 50,000 EVs worldwide in the first five months of the year, representing about 3.5% of its total sales of 1.4 million vehicles. Both automakers are looking to enhance their EV offerings and infrastructure to address these challenges.
