Green Power for Central China
A groundbreaking 900 MW photovoltaic project commenced operations on Sunday in Qinghai province, Northwest China. The initiative marks the second phase of an ultra-high-voltage power line designed to transmit electricity from Qinghai to Henan province in Central China, overseen by the China Three Gorges Corporation.
Solar Prowess on the Plateau
Situated in Gonghe county of the Hainan Tibetan autonomous prefecture, the photovoltaic project spans approximately 1,540 hectares at an altitude of 3,000 meters on the northeast Qinghai-Tibet Plateau. Leveraging the clean energy potential of the region, the project is a significant step towards sustainable power generation.
Impressive Output and Environmental Impact
Anticipated to yield an average annual electricity generation of 2.1 billion kWh, the project translates into substantial environmental benefits. The output is equivalent to saving about 640,000 tonnes of standard coal and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by an impressive 1.74 million tonnes annually.
Qinghai’s Clean Energy Hub
Qinghai’s strategic location on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau positions it as a hub for clean energy resources, including water, wind, and solar power. The province’s abundant renewable energy potential makes it an ideal candidate for fostering the new energy industry, contributing significantly to China’s green energy landscape.
