LONGi Unveils Record-Breaking Solar Cell at Intersolar Europe 2024

At Intersolar Europe 2024, LONGi Green Energy Technology Co Ltd showcased a groundbreaking M6 size wafer-level silicon-perovskite tandem solar cell. With a photoelectric conversion efficiency of 30.1%, this innovative solar cell sets a new world record.

High-Efficiency Solar Technology

LONGi, a global leader in solar energy, developed this high-efficiency solar cell. Certified by the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems, Europe’s largest solar research institute, the 30.1% conversion efficiency represents a significant milestone in solar technology.

He Bo, director of LONGi’s Central R&D Institute, emphasized that this breakthrough will greatly enhance the commercial value of solar energy products. LONGi remains committed to increasing solar cell efficiency, having previously presented a tandem solar cell with 34.6% efficiency at the SNEC PV Power Expo 2024 in Shanghai.

Focus on Solar Energy Innovation

The theoretical maximum efficiency of wafer-level silicon-perovskite tandem solar cells is 43%. This has become a focal point for research in the global photovoltaic industry. LONGi is accelerating efforts to promote the mass production of these tandem solar cells, overcoming significant challenges in large-area perovskite film preparation and ultra-low-temperature metallization within six months.

With a research and development team of over 5,000 people, LONGi has invested more than 30 billion yuan ($4.13 billion) in photovoltaic research. The company has obtained 2,879 patents over the past few years. LONGi continues to enhance product quality and advance renewable energy industries such as photovoltaics and hydrogen.
