HSGS-Ameresco Secures Contract to Build 6.25MW Solar Generation Plant at Military Ocean Terminal Concord

HSGS-Ameresco, a joint venture recognized as a Service-Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business, proudly announces the contract award for the construction of a 6.25MW backup power generation plant and underground transmission lines at Military Ocean Terminal Concord (MOTCO) in Concord, California.

Enhancing Military Ocean Terminal Concord’s Resilience

The MOTCO generation plant will feature three generators providing approximately 6.25MW of capacity, including a 2MW load bank, 1200-amp switchgear, and 72,000-gallon fuel storage tanks capable of sustaining a 14-day fuel supply. In addition, 12,000 linear feet of underground duct bank with 500 kcmil power distribution conductors will be installed.

Comprehensive Underground Infrastructure

The project involves the construction of underground infrastructure, including trenching, PVC conduit installation, electrical lines, and manhole placement. A significant aspect is the integration with the existing electrical infrastructure, featuring a break-before-make interconnection to the Pacific Gas and Electric Company utility grid.

Funding and Energy Resilience

Funded through the Department of Defense’s Energy Resilience and Conservation Investment Program (ERCIP), this initiative aligns with MOTCO’s commitment to energy resilience, mission assurance, and cost-effective energy solutions.

Commitment to Energy Resilience

Dave McNeil, President, and CEO of HSGS-Ameresco expressed enthusiasm, stating, “We’re thrilled to be selected to construct and enhance the reliability of MOTCO’s energy infrastructure. We take great pride in providing the right measures for energy resilience for this important military facility.”

Mentor Protégé Program Impact

Launched in August 2021 as a joint venture between Hannah Solar Government Services and Ameresco, the HSGS-Ameresco collaboration leverages the SBA Mentor Protégé Program. This program supports small businesses, aiding their growth through partnerships with experienced companies.

Timeline and Completion

Construction is set to commence in January 2024, with completion expected in early 2026. This strategic initiative underscores HSGS-Ameresco’s commitment to advancing energy resilience for critical facilities and supporting mission-critical activities.
