In addition to this acquisition, First Solar plans to expand its Ohio footprint to over 7 GW of annual nameplate capacity this year. The company also anticipates investing over $2 billion in new manufacturing facilities in Alabama and Louisiana, with a goal of achieving 14 GW of fully integrated US solar manufacturing capacity by 2026. Furthermore, a dedicated R&D innovation center in Perrysburg, Ohio, with an investment of up to $370 million, is on track for completion in 2024.
