Danish multinational Eurowind Energy has signed a purchase agreement for eleven solar photovoltaic projects with a total investment value of €47 million. Once completed, these projects are expected to generate enough green electricity to power approximately 36,100 households while reducing annual carbon dioxide emissions by over 30,800 tonnes.
Project Details
The initiative encompasses eleven solar projects primarily organized into 15 megawatt (MW) clusters, all situated in Portugal’s Aveiro district. Eurowind Energy has indicated that these projects are at an advanced stage of development. The acquisition deal is set to proceed once the first cluster of three projects reaches the “ready to build” phase, signifying that they are prepared for construction.
Strategic Acquisition Plan
The agreement stipulates that Eurowind will acquire projects only once they achieve this readiness, allowing for a maximum acquisition capacity of 55 MW AC. These projects are being developed by Insun, with sales taking place in both Portugal and Romania.
Conclusion
Eurowind Energy’s substantial investment underscores the growing focus on renewable energy solutions in Europe. By enhancing the region’s solar capacity, the initiative aims to promote sustainability while making a significant impact on local energy consumption and carbon emissions.
