New York City-based Dimensional Energy has successfully raised $20 million in a Series A funding round, led by Envisioning Partners. The funding round saw participation from notable entities, including United Airlines’ Sustainable Flight Fund, Microsoft’s Climate Innovation Fund, and RockCreek Group’s Smart Aviation Futures fund, among others.
The primary objective for Dimensional Energy is to utilize these funds to attain commercial scale and expand its diverse portfolio of projects. The company’s focus areas include carbon utilization technology, Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) production, and the development of advanced carbon emissions-derived fuels and materials.
Key Initiatives Fueled by Series A Investment
The $20 million funding injection will be strategically allocated to advance several key initiatives:
1. Advanced Power-to-Liquid (PtL) Fuels Plant: Dimensional Energy plans to construct a PtL fuels plant in partnership with Svante, utilizing emissions from the Lafarge Richmond Cement Plant in British Columbia, Canada.
2. Global Expansion of Power-to-Liquid Plants: The company will continue the development of commercial power-to-liquid plants globally, with support from Seneca Environmental and Elemental Excelerator’s Infrastructure and Community Engagement programs.
3. Consumer and Business Products: Dimensional Energy is set to introduce its first consumer (B2C) and business-to-business (B2B) products. These include fossil-free surf wax and a cruelty-free fat alternative designed for vegan food manufacturers.
4. Technological Advancements: The funds will contribute to advancements in Dimensional Energy’s proprietary reactor and catalyst technologies. These innovations, developed in collaboration with the Department of Energy’s ARPA-E and SETO programs, Oak Ridge National Laboratory, and Cornell University, are currently undergoing field testing at the Tucson Technology Center in Arizona.
A Vision for a Sustainable Future
Led by CEO Jason Salfi, Dimensional Energy specializes in carbon-to-value technology, with offices in Houston, TX, laboratories in Ithaca, NY, and a fully integrated pilot plant in Tucson, AZ. The company plays a crucial role in supporting commercial deployments for project developers, industrial carbon emitters, and strategic partners, contributing to the realization of a more sustainable and eco-friendly future.
