Danfoss, a global refrigeration industry leader, attains full green electricity utilization at its Tianjin factory in Northern China.
A Landmark Achievement
Danfoss proudly announces that its Tianjin factory, a key player in the global refrigeration sector, has successfully achieved 100% green energy usage, marking a significant milestone in the company’s commitment to carbon neutrality.
Strategic Green Power Partnership
In November, Danfoss entered a 10-year green power purchase agreement with the State Grid (Tianjin) Integrated Energy Service and Tianjin Yinghua New Energy Technology. The partnership focuses on sourcing green power from Yinghua’s recently constructed solar farm, located 20 km from the Danfoss factory.
Solar Farm Details and Environmental Impact
Yinghua’s solar farm boasts an impressive installed capacity of 142.8 megawatts, generating 165 million kilowatt-hours annually. With the Danfoss factory consuming 45 million kWh each year, the shift to green energy is estimated to slash carbon emissions by 28,000 tonnes annually.
Danfoss China’s President, Xu Yang, describes this accomplishment as a “major milestone” in the company’s journey toward carbon neutrality. The achievement aligns with Danfoss’ three-step decarbonization approach—reduce, reuse, and re-source—emphasizing energy-efficient solutions, energy reuse, and transitioning to renewable sources.
Green Technologies for Energy Efficiency
The Tianjin factory has actively pursued energy efficiency through Danfoss advanced solutions, including DTC center cooling, smart heating, heat pump, heat recovery, and comprehensive utilization solutions. Torben Christensen, Chief Sustainability Officer at Danfoss, underscores the company’s dedication to sustainable practices.
In conclusion, Danfoss’ Tianjin factory’s complete transition to green energy exemplifies a commitment to environmental responsibility, aligning with the global push towards sustainable practices in the manufacturing sector.
