Danfoss Tianjin Factory Achieves 100% Green Energy Milestone

Green Energy Adoption Strategy

Danfoss, a global refrigeration industry leader, celebrates a significant achievement as its Tianjin factory in North China achieves 100% green energy usage. This strategic move aligns with Danfoss’s commitment to carbon neutrality and industry-wide transformation.

Powering Ahead with a Green Agreement

In November, Danfoss entered a groundbreaking 10-year green power purchase agreement. Partnering with State Grid (Tianjin) Integrated Energy Service and Tianjin Yinghua New Energy Technology, Danfoss secures green power from Yinghua’s recently commissioned solar farm.

Situated 20 km from the factory, the solar farm boasts an impressive 142.8-megawatt capacity, generating 165 million kWh annually. With the factory’s annual consumption at 45 million kWh, this transition significantly slashes carbon emissions by 28,000 tons each year.

Danfoss China’s President, Xu Yang, regards this achievement as a major milestone towards Danfoss’s broader goal of achieving carbon neutrality. The company’s proactive approach underscores its leadership in sustainable practices within the refrigeration industry.

Danfoss’s Holistic Decarbonization Approach

Danfoss implements a three-step approach for decarbonization: reduce, reuse, and re-source. This strategy involves deploying energy-efficient solutions, repurposing energy, and ultimately sourcing power from renewable sources.

Energy Efficiency Initiatives

The Tianjin factory has been at the forefront of enhancing energy efficiency. Leveraging Danfoss’s advanced solutions, including DTC center cooling, smart heating, heat pumps, heat recovery, and comprehensive utilization, the facility continues to lead in sustainable practices.

Danfoss’s achievement marks not only a pivotal moment in its sustainability journey but also serves as an inspiring example for the industry’s transition toward cleaner and greener practices.
