CESEL Advances Community Development with Solar-Powered Facilities in Osun State
Community Energy Social Enterprise Limited (CESEL) demonstrates its commitment to community development by commissioning a solar-powered oil palm mill and borehole in Osi Community, Osun State.
Heading 2: CESEL’s Recent Solar Initiatives and Economic Boost for Osi Community
CESEL recently deployed a 45KW Solar Hybrid Mini Grid in Osi Community, providing reliable and clean energy access to underserved communities. The latest commissioning of a solar-powered oil palm mill and borehole further solidifies CESEL’s efforts.
Heading 3: CEO Dr. Patrick Tolani Ensures Quality Standards and Economic Growth
During the commissioning ceremony, CESEL CEO Dr. Patrick Tolani pledged to support the community by facilitating the mill’s registration under the National Agency For Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), ensuring high-quality palm oil production. “This initiative aims to attract the right off-takers and further contribute to the community’s economic development,” he stated.
Heading 4: Addressing Nigeria’s Power Challenges and Boosting Palm Oil Production
Nigeria, despite its abundant oil reserves, faces challenges with poor power supply, particularly in rural areas. Over 90 million Nigerians lack access to grid electricity, hindering economic development and costing businesses an estimated $29 billion yearly, according to the World Bank.
The solar-powered oil mill in Osi is a significant upgrade, replacing traditional methods with advanced technology powered by the CESEL-Concerto JV mini-grid. This upgrade is expected to increase palm oil production to an impressive 30,000 liters per day, a significant boost from the previous maximum of about 1,000 liters.
