Catalyze Powers New York with 12 MWdc Solar Projects in Lancaster

Community Solar Boosts Clean Energy Access

Catalyze, a leading clean energy transition company, has successfully inaugurated two solar projects in Lancaster, New York, contributing over 12 MWdc to the state’s renewable energy portfolio.

Transforming Landfills into Revenue-Generating Assets

The first site, a 6.63 MWdc community solar project, partners with Finger Lakes Health as the anchor commercial utility off-taker. The second site, totaling 6.06 MWdc, introduces remote net crediting, expanding opportunities for off-takers. Both sites, though co-located, connect to the New York State Electric & Gas (NYSEG) distribution infrastructure through separate interconnection points.

AC Power, a woman-owned development company specializing in repurposing disturbed land, initially developed these projects. Catalyze now owns and operates these solar sites on what was once a landfill, aligning with New York’s objective of achieving 6 GW of distributed solar by 2025 and 70 percent renewable energy by 2030.

Ampion, a community solar subscription management company, played a pivotal role by enrolling Finger Lakes Health, the Town of Hector’s municipal sites, and other subscribers to these innovative solar initiatives.

Contributing to New York’s Ambitious Renewable Goals

Jared Haines, CEO of Catalyze, expressed pride in supporting New York’s efforts to expand solar energy access, especially for commercial and mass market energy users lacking on-site solar options. Haines emphasized the role of renewable energy in bolstering local economies and affirmed Catalyze’s commitment to identifying opportunities that accelerate the clean energy transition while maximizing unused space.

AC Power’s founder and CEO, Annika Colston, lauded the collaboration with Catalyze, transforming a dormant landfill into a clean energy source. Colston highlighted the project as a prime example of solar development offsetting land maintenance costs, turning challenges into revenue-generating assets, and simultaneously benefitting the community and the environment.

This initiative aligns with New York’s vision for a sustainable future, and Catalyze, with its proprietary technologies and financial strength, stands as a national Energy Transition Partner facilitating the nationwide adoption of commercial and industrial solar and storage.
