Groundbreaking Solar Initiative in Free State
Africa Data Centres, a subsidiary of the Cassava Technologies group, has commenced construction on a solar farm located in the Free State, underscoring its dedication to sustainable practices.
The project is a collaboration with DPA Southern Africa, a partnership between Cassava Technologies’ Distributed Power Africa and French utility, EDF. It aligns with the recently signed 20-year Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) between Africa Data Centres and DPA Southern Africa.
Objective and Scope of the Project
The Free State-based solar farm aims to supply renewable energy to Africa Data Centres’ facilities, starting with its carrier-neutral data centre, CPT1, in Cape Town. This initiative marks a significant step towards Africa Data Centres’ goal of becoming a leader in sustainable colocation services.
