Tongwei’s Major Investment in Sichuan Province

Leading polysilicon and module manufacturer, Tongwei, is embarking on a significant expansion with plans to construct a new cell and module factory in the Shuangliu District, Sichuan province. The ambitious project will require a substantial investment of CNY10.5 billion ($1.48 billion) and is set to boast an annual capacity of 25 GW for cells and 20 GW for modules. Tongwei anticipates full operation of cell lines by the first half of 2024, while module equipment is expected to be operational by 2025.

Canadian Solar’s Ambitious Wafer Plant in Jiangsu Province

In a parallel move, Canadian Solar Inc. (CSI) is reinforcing its presence by establishing a 14 GW monocrystalline silicon wafer factory in Yangzhou, Jiangsu province. With a substantial investment of CNY900 million, Canadian Solar aims to enhance its manufacturing capabilities significantly.

GokinSolar’s IPO Relaunch and Expansion Plans

Wafer manufacturer GokinSolar is gearing up for a strategic move by relaunching its Initial Public Offering (IPO) process at the Shenzhen Stock Exchange (SZSE). After withdrawing its first IPO request in September, the company is keen on securing a strong market presence. GokinSolar, with a robust annual production capacity of 30 GW at the end of 2022, is also making strides with the construction of a substantial 50 GW PV ingot factory in Xining City, Qinghai Province. The company’s commitment to expansion underscores the dynamic growth within the Chinese PV industry.

These strategic expansions highlight the sustained momentum and investment pouring into China’s flourishing solar industry, contributing to the country’s position as a global leader in renewable energy.
