Solar Energy Corp. of India (SECI) has opened bidding for 1.5 GW of renewable energy projects integrated with storage systems, welcoming developers nationwide to participate.
Nationwide Renewable Deployment
SECI’s tender invites developers to propose projects across India, emphasizing a build-own-operate (BOO) model with mandatory energy storage systems (ESS).
Long-Term Commitment: 25-Year Power Purchase Agreements
Successful bidders will enter into 25-year power purchase agreements (PPA) with SECI. The power generated will be supplied to Punjab State Power Corp. Ltd (PSPCL).
Flexibility and Incentives for Developers
Renewable energy developers have the flexibility to own the ESS or involve a third party for power supply in the PPA. The tender also allows for a change in ESS technology during the agreement.
SECI encourages participation from developers with commissioned or under-construction renewable energy/storage projects, offering extended PPA durations based on project progress.
This initiative aligns with India’s commitment to expanding its renewable energy capacity and fostering innovation in energy storage technologies. Developers have the opportunity to contribute to the country’s sustainable energy landscape while benefiting from flexible project structures.
