Cheltenham Borough Council is advancing its green energy initiatives with the installation of new electric vehicle (EV) charging hubs across the town. In partnership with The EV Network, the council has secured contracts to build three new EV hubs, which will introduce 26 rapid charging bays to the area.
Strategic Locations for Maximum Accessibility
The new charging hubs will be strategically located in key car parks, ensuring accessibility and convenience for residents and visitors. The first two hubs, each offering ten bays, will be situated at St James Street and Bath Terrace. Additionally, a third hub with six bays will be installed at the Church Piece car park. These locations have been chosen to provide broad coverage across the town, supporting Cheltenham’s goal of becoming a cleaner, greener, and more environmentally friendly community.
High-Speed Charging for EV Users
The charging stations will feature ultra-rapid 300kW chargers capable of delivering a full charge in just 20 to 40 minutes, significantly reducing downtime for EV users. These state-of-the-art chargers are expected to come online by the end of November, with plans to expand the network to additional car parks around Cheltenham in the coming year.
