Restart Energy Completes EUR 0.2 Million PV Project for Biorom Ralex

Significant Investment in Solar Energy for Romanian Company

Restart Energy has successfully completed a photovoltaic (PV) project for Biorom Ralex, amounting to over EUR 200,000. This investment, anticipated to amortize in about three years, highlights a significant step in solar energy investment for the Romanian company.

Details of the Photovoltaic Project

Biorom Ralex, established in 2013 in Dej, Cluj County, specializes in purchasing, processing, and marketing mushrooms, fruits, and medicinal plants from Romania’s wild flora. The company concluded 2023 with a turnover of EUR 5.89 million.

The rooftop PV project, with a capacity of 400 kWp, was installed on a Biorom Ralex building in Dej. The plant comprises 800 panels spread across 2,100 square meters. These panels are expected to generate 404 MWh of energy annually, covering approximately 75% of the company’s energy requirements.

“The project covers a large part of our energy consumption and provides predictability of operational costs in an increasingly dynamic energy market. Additionally, it reduces our carbon footprint by avoiding CO2 emissions,” said Sighiartau Petru Rares, Administrator of Biorom Ralex.

Romania’s Renewable Energy Targets and Market Trends

Armand Domuța, CEO & Founder of Restart Energy, emphasized Romania’s renewable energy goals: “Romania aims for 34% renewable energy by 2030, compared to 45% in other EU countries. EPC projects make sustainability profitable for companies, a strong argument for global action for a better future.”

In 2023, Romania added more than 1 GW of installed photovoltaic capacity, positioning it among the top 20 fastest-growing solar markets globally. Solar Power Europe projects Romania’s new PV capacity between 2024-2028 to range from 9,000 MW in a negative scenario to 19,000 MW in an optimistic scenario.

Future Prospects and Strategic Partnerships

In January 2021, Restart Energy partnered with the American fund Interlink Capital Strategies to finance 500 MW of renewable projects in Romania by 2025, aiming to supply 100% locally produced green energy to all end customers.

In June 2024, Restart Energy signed a RON 56 million connection contract with Transelectrica for a 500 MW photovoltaic park, expected to supply green energy to over 200,000 households. Restart Energy’s portfolio of PV projects under development exceeds 1,000 MWp. The same month, Restart Energy issued its second corporate bond on the Bucharest Stock Exchange.

Restart Energy’s advancements in solar technology and green energy policies underline Romania’s commitment to sustainable energy solutions and market growth.
