Avangrid, Inc. (NYSE: AGR), a leading sustainable energy company, announced the installation of the “Golden Row” at its Powell Creek solar project in Putnam County, Ohio. This significant milestone marks the start of solar panel installation at the site. With over 1,000 panels installed so far, Avangrid is on track to expand renewable energy generation.

Community and Economic Benefits
Powell Creek supports up to 400 jobs during construction, with most positions filled by local residents. The project will benefit the community through property tax and landowner payments. Miller City has annexed the project area, enabling it to generate revenue for a new sewer line. This development will facilitate growth by allowing the addition of new homes and businesses.
Miller City Mayor Jim Erford highlighted the positive impact: “With Powell Creek, we are projected to expand our tax base by ten times and grow our town for the first time in many years. We are thrilled to bring new development, new families, and new energy into our community.”

Construction at Powell Creek began late last year and represents Avangrid’s second renewable energy project in Ohio. Avangrid also built the Blue Creek wind farm in 2012, which has a capacity of 304 MW and powers approximately 76,000 homes annually.
