Large-Scale Solar Energy Initiative
The Sindh government has unveiled an ambitious solar energy scheme, aiming to distribute solar systems to 200,000 families across the province. This initiative, implemented with the cooperation of the World Bank, seeks to enhance energy access and promote green energy policies.
Details of the Solar System Scheme
Under the scheme, beneficiaries will receive a solar setup capable of powering a fan and three LED lights, at a highly subsidized cost of only Rs7,000. This affordable price is part of the government’s effort to encourage widespread adoption of solar technology. The distribution will include solar panels, a charge controller, and a battery.
Karachi will receive 50,000 of these systems, while each district in Sindh will receive 6,656 systems. The World Bank has allocated $32 million for this project, reflecting a significant investment in the solar energy market and sustainable energy solutions.
Timeline and Implementation
The solar system scheme is slated for launch in October this year. However, the Sindh provincial government will make a final announcement regarding the exact launch date. This initiative is expected to significantly impact energy market trends by increasing the use of renewable energy sources.
