Promoting Renewable Energy Sources
Minister Ahn highlighted South Korea’s commitment to promoting renewable energy and encouraged Kyrgyzstan to consider partnerships with South Korean firms. With Kyrgyzstan heavily reliant on hydroelectricity, Ahn emphasized the untapped potential in solar and wind power sectors.
Bilateral Agreements for Climate Action
Both nations agreed to facilitate exchanges in personnel and technology to address climate change and enhance energy security. Additionally, South Korea extended an invitation for Kyrgyzstan to participate in the World Climate Expo in Busan in September, further promoting collaboration on a global platform.
Advancing Energy Technologies
In a separate development, Korea Electric Power Corp. (KEPCO) signed a memorandum of understanding with Kyrgyzstan. This agreement aims to foster cooperation in developing cutting-edge technologies, including the high-voltage direct current transmission system, showcasing the commitment of both nations towards innovation in the energy sector.
