Strengthening Grid Resiliency
Prevalon Energy LLC, a Mitsubishi Power Americas company, has secured a contract with Idaho Power for a comprehensive Battery Energy Storage System (BESS). This initiative aims to enhance grid resiliency by providing a net peak solution, ensuring reliable power supply during peak demand periods.
Supporting Renewable Energy Integration
The BESS project, accompanied by a long-term service agreement, will offer up to 328 MWh of four-hour battery storage. It aligns with Idaho Power’s strategy to integrate over 5,000 MW of energy from wind and solar projects in the next two decades. This system will enable the storage of energy from intermittent renewable sources for future use, contributing significantly to Idaho Power’s goal of achieving 100% clean energy by 2045.
Innovative Battery Energy Storage Solution
Prevalon’s “Prevalon Battery Energy Storage Platform” will serve as the cornerstone of Idaho Power’s battery storage project. This platform, offering an integrated AC solution, includes battery enclosures, inverters, medium voltage transformers, and an Energy Management System (EMS). It addresses the utility’s specific requirements, prioritizing safety, security, and reliable operations. The project is slated for completion by 2025.
