Romanian Agri-Food Firms Seek EUR 262 Million Grants for Green Energy Ventures

Application Surge for Green Energy Development Grants

Romanian companies operating in agriculture and food processing have submitted projects totaling EUR 262 million, aiming to secure grants for the establishment of green energy capacities. The projects boast an impressive cumulative installed capacity of 488MW.

Grant Scheme Extended for Increased Participation

Launched on November 21 and extended until the end of January, the grant scheme has witnessed a significant influx of applications from businesses eager to embrace green energy initiatives. The initiative aims to support and foster the integration of renewable energy solutions within the agriculture and food processing sectors.

Modernisation Fund Fuels Green Transition

Financed under the Modernisation Fund, sourced from the proceeds of CO2 certificate sales allocated to Romania, the grant scheme boasts a substantial budget of EUR 150 million for its initial session. This financial backing underscores the commitment to advancing sustainable practices and reducing the carbon footprint in line with green energy policies.

Grading System Guides Project Selection

Projects submitted for consideration will undergo evaluation based on a grading system, ensuring a fair and transparent selection process. The budget allocation reflects the scale of the projects, with EUR 100 million earmarked for capacities below 1MW, emphasizing a focus on solar and wind projects. Larger capacities, exceeding 1MW, have a dedicated allocation of EUR 50 million, emphasizing a balanced approach to solar and wind ventures.
