LG Electronics Inc. has officially inaugurated its inaugural electric vehicle (EV) charging station plant in Fort Worth, Texas, marking a significant stride in its foray into the rapidly expanding EV charging solutions sector.
Plant Capacity and Models
The newly opened plant boasts an impressive annual capacity of over 10,000 units, showcasing LG’s commitment to meeting the escalating demand for EV charging infrastructure. LG Electronics plans to introduce its 11-kilowatt wall-mounted and stand-type slow chargers, along with 175 kW fast-charging models, to the U.S. market during the first half of 2024.
Advanced Features for Commercial Spaces
LG’s 11 kW units feature a load management solution designed for commercial spaces like shopping malls and supermarkets. This solution automatically adjusts the output based on the power situation, ensuring stable and quality charging services even in locations with limited power capacity.
Convenience and Compatibility
The fast-charging model is designed to support both Combined Charging Standard version 1 and North American Charging Standard connectors. This dual compatibility aims to enhance the charging experience for customers, providing convenience and flexibility.
Future Expansion and Business Focus
LG Electronics has ambitious plans for its EV charger lineup, with a particular focus on catering to commercial and long-distance travel needs. The company, which initiated its EV charging solutions development in 2018, acquired HiEV Charger (formerly AppleMango), a South Korean EV battery charger developer, in 2022.
