In a forward-looking initiative, Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak announces the installation of solar plants in medical colleges across the state.
Solar Empowerment for Medical Institutions
Deputy Chief Minister Pathak, also overseeing health affairs, instructs principals of the state’s 35 government medical colleges, including prestigious institutions like King George’s Medical University and Lohia Institute, to implement solar plants on their campuses. This move aims to augment electricity production and ensure a continuous and reliable power supply.
Potential for Excess Electricity Sales
Pathak reveals a plan wherein medical colleges producing surplus electricity can engage with the Uttar Pradesh New and Renewable Energy Development Agency (UPNEDA) for the sale of excess energy. This not only contributes to sustainable practices but also offers financial opportunities for the institutions.
Enhancing Patient Care and Infrastructure Upgrades
Highlighting the broader impact, Pathak emphasizes that solar power generation will enhance patient care by providing uninterrupted power. Additionally, plans include upgrading the modular operating theatre at King George’s Medical University and initiating a DNB course in vascular surgery at the Cardiology Institute in GSVM Memorial Medical College, Kanpur.
This strategic integration of solar energy aligns with Uttar Pradesh’s commitment to sustainable practices and reinforces the importance of renewable energy in critical sectors like healthcare. The initiative not only addresses immediate power needs but also positions medical institutions as contributors to environmental conservation.
